Reducing Barriers to Lung Cancer Screening in Franklin County

About This Grant:

The focus of our proposal is to reduce the burden of lung cancer by reducing barriers preventing eligible adults in Franklin County from seeking screening services. We will implement a program using a combined Nurse Navigator and Community Health Worker model. Services will include identifying eligible adults, providing individual and community education, assisting with enrollment in tobacco treatment programs as appropriate, addressing barriers to screening (ex: transportation), assisting with shared decision making, navigating with clients and family throughout their journey. A community-wide education and awareness campaign will address the shame, bias and stigma related to lung cancer and the fears associated with lung cancer screening.
