About This Grant:
Healthy Acadia’s mission is to empower people and organizations to build healthy communities, including communities free of cancer. We are dedicated to addressing the critical health challenges our communities face and to making it possible for all people to lead healthier lives throughout the Downeast Public Health District of Maine (Hancock and Washington counties). Our vision is a region that is home to diverse, vibrant communities where healthful resources are available and people work together for the common good. We are a community health coalition, working since 2001 with hundreds of partners and thousands of citizens in the two counties to address a
wide range of local health needs. We build partnerships, coordinate education and prevention services, and improve policies and environments to create lasting positive changes to the health of our communities.
Our current initiatives include: Cancer Patient Navigation, Tobacco-free Communities, Chronic Disease Prevention and Management, Clinical Health Access, Nutrition Education, Active Communities, Healthy Environments, Healthy Aging, Community Food Security, Farm to School, Substance Dependence Prevention, and Addiction Recovery.
