About This Grant:
A.R. Gould Hospital (ARG), located in Presque Isle, Maine, is replacing its current linear accelerator, a critical tool in radiation therapy. During the replacement period, ARG patients will need to travel to their nearest cancer center for treatment, which may require daily travel, lodging, and additional expenses for meals and transportation. For patients traveling from Aroostook County to Brewer, each trip can exceed 300 miles. Grant funding will help ARG assist cancer patients whose out-of-pocket travel costs increase significantly, ensuring they can continue to receive essential, life-saving palliative or pain-reducing radiation therapy despite the distance from home.
