About This Grant:
Mount Desert Island Hospital’s (MDIH) Integrated Care Team often works one-on-one with individuals who smoke, helping them reduce or quit tobacco use. In 2024, with support from the Maine Cancer Foundation, MDIH launched a pilot Tobacco Treatment and Prevention Program using the American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking format. Feedback from participants and prospective participants led the team to streamline and improve the program, creating a new version called Breathe Easy Together. With continued support from MCF, MDIH plans to implement this enhanced program to help more individuals reduce tobacco use and improve their health.
