Quitting smoking is hard, finding support shouldn’t be: Expanding individual and group treatment options in central Maine

About This Grant:

MaineGeneral's Community Health Department (CHD) will build tobacco treatment and support capacity and expand evidence-based treatment options for patients and members of the community who are looking to quit smoking. Members of the CHD team will become certified Freedom From Smoking (American Lung Association) facilitators as well as Tobacco Specialists through the National Certificate in Tobacco Treatment Practice program coordinated by the Center for Tobacco Independence. They will facilitate Freedom from Smoking; support groups and one-on-one tobacco counseling; as well as work with internal MaineGeneral departments and external community partners to build referral networks, reach priority populations, and connect individuals to new and existing tobacco cessation resources.
