Community Education Workshops on Cancer for Refugees and Asylum Seekers

About This Grant:

New Mainers Public Health Initiative (NMPHI) intends to initiate a year-long Pilot Program entitled: Community Education Workshop Series on Cancer. There are a total of 10 cancer sites covered in the educational learning series and these are presented as two tracks of ten--one for women and one for men, respectively, for a total of 20 sessions. Learners include people born in any one of 25 different countries who have varying experience and knowledge about disease or medicine: NMPHI intends to help standardize the "language and culture" of cancer among these groups in response to their continued questioning about cancers.
