About This Grant:
For oncology patients experiencing financial hardship – especially those who must travel long distances from rural regions of Maine for care – the challenge of arranging and paying for ancillaries like transportation and lodging creates an undue burden that can impact their access to treatment and strain their endurance and overall well-being. The MaineHealth Cancer Care Network was established to address these patient needs across the hospital system. This one-year grant will be used to eliminate the barriers to care created by travel costs and relieve the financial burden on patients who are already under extreme emotional and physical stress as a result of cancer diagnosis and treatment.
