About This Grant:
Wabanaki Public Health and Wellness will use this funding to support transportation, lodging costs, and cultural, and community support for Wabanaki cancer patients. The majority of Wabanaki people in Maine reside in or near one of the five reservations in the state, four of which are hours from cancer treatment locations in areas where public transportation is unavailable. The commute for treatment is a financial burden often paired with hotel costs, a weight that these funds will help alleviate. This program aims to provide essential assistance to Wabanaki cancer patients, ensuring they can access vital treatment resources without facing overwhelming financial challenges.
