Evidence Based Intervention to Increase Cancer Screening Rates in Androscoggin County

About This Grant:

In collaboration with Healthy Androscoggin, AK Health and Social Services (AHSS) is working to enhance cancer screening rates among immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and BIPOC communities in Maine. This initiative follows a comprehensive cancer screening assessment recently completed by AHSS. This project aims to address the critical findings of this assessment by implementing evidence-based strategies tailored to these communities' unique needs.

The partnership with Healthy Androscoggin emphasizes a community-centered approach, utilizing combined expertise and resources to implement culturally sensitive, linguistically appropriate, and accessible interventions. By engaging directly with communities and leveraging existing networks, the initiative seeks to overcome barriers to cancer screening and promote proactive healthcare behaviors among Maine's immigrant and BIPOC populations.
