About This Grant:
Aroostook Regional Transportation System (ARTS) is a non-profit transportation provider in Aroostook County, the Patten region in Penobscot County and the Danforth region in Washington County. These areas of the state have significant transportation barriers, from the very long distances patients have to travel, to a lack of public transportation or the financial burden of owning and maintaining a vehicle. ARTS's program aims to reduce the barriers to cancer care by creating a resource guide for cancer patients, mileage reimbursement for cancer-related appointments for those with a vehicle and transportation to and from appointments for those who do not have their own mode of transportation.
