About This Grant:
This project enhances mental health supports for LGBTQ+ youth ages 13-22 in Maine by training 40-60 LCSW and LCPC graduate students who are seeking a degree in a mental health related fields in 1-2 local university programs in trauma-informed, gender-affirming care integrating tobacco and cancer prevention. In addition, OUT Maine will provide individual/group counseling and facilitate provider support groups. Targeted training on cultural humility, minority stress, and ASK-ADVISE-REFER equips providers to address nicotine coping, build resilience, and reduce cancer risks, fostering sustainable systems change.
