About This Grant:
OWN IT: Reclaiming Health Through Culture, Nutrition, and Movement is a culturally responsive initiative that addresses rising obesity and cancer risks in New Mainer communities. Led by Maine Community Integration, the project combines smart media outreach, culturally tailored nutrition education, and inclusive physical activity programs to promote long-term health. OWN IT also trains trusted community health navigators and partners with local healthcare and food providers to improve access to preventive care, screenings, and healthy food. Together, these efforts reduce disparities and empower immigrant families to take charge of their health and well-being.
