Homes Against Harm: Cancer Risk Reduction

About This Grant:

Western Maine Community Action (WMCA) seeks to launch a Healthy Home Evaluations initiative to reduce cancer risks and other health concerns linked to unsafe housing. Environmental hazards like radon, mold, and poor ventilation contribute to chronic illness—risks that can be mitigated through targeted home interventions. This program will be integrated into WMCA’s existing housing services, with grant funding supporting staff training, implementation, and remediation. WMCA will also collaborate with Healthy Community Coalition’s radon education program through shared resources and a formal referral network.
