About This Grant:
The Jefferson Cary Foundation’s project aims to educate the public about the role of radon exposure in the high incidence of lung cancer cases in central Aroostook County, northern Maine. This initiative will utilize radon information from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine and the Environmental Public Health section of the Maine CDC, which will be distributed at community events, local hospitals, provider clinics, libraries, and businesses. In addition to providing educational materials, the project will offer radon test kits to low-income families, medically underserved and marginalized individuals, Veterans, and other high-risk populations in this rural area.
