About This Grant:
MAIN will increase early colorectal cancer detection and screening efforts by providing linguistically and culturally specific education and positive peer motivation on colorectal cancer and the importance of screening as prevention with MAIN's minority refugee and immigrant client communities who reside in the Greater Portland area.
MAIN will demonstrate collaboration with the Maine Cancer Foundation-funded Patient Navigator at Greater Portland Health (GPH) by referring workshop participants to GPH for a fecal immunochemical test (FIT) test or to schedule a colonoscopy (as to be determined by the patient and his or her provider); GPH has agreed to, in turn, help refer patients ages 50 and older to MAIN's multilingual Healthy YOU Workshops on Colorectal Cancer Prevention and Screening.
