Ensuring Free Lodging and Transportation for Maine Cancer Patients Seeking Care in Boston

About This Grant:

A two-year, $60,000 grant from Maine Cancer Foundation will allow Hospitality Homes to continue to increase outreach and services to Maine cancer patients seeking specialized cancer care at a Boston-based hospital. This funding will directly support at least 1,189 nights of free, convenient, comfortable lodging for a total of at least 197 patients over a two-year period (an average of six nights of lodging per patient), as well as transportation vouchers through Uber and Lyft and shared parking spots through SpotHero. Lastly, this funding will support targeted annual recruitment of 5-6 volunteer host homes located in towns North of Boston and within 45 minutes of Boston-based hospitals to further improve convenience and accessibility for patients traveling from Maine.
