This Grant was given in two parts of $5,000 each:
The fiirst part was to sustain the Maine Buddy Program™, a one-to-one support program for Mainers living with cancer. The Program matches those dealing with cancer’s effects (including patients, their friends and family members), with trained volunteers who have been in similar cancer situations.
The second part was to fund the Wellness Program, which offers free classes in the area of physical fitness, mental health and stress reduction as well as healthy eating and cooking. The workshops are designed to help participants maintain a healthy mind/body connection for overall wellness and will help to achieve the Cancer Community Center’s mission of supporting and promoting the well-being of individuals and their families living with cancer.
