MCF Awards Six Screening Grants

MCF Awards Six Screening Grants

In support of our efforts to detect cancer early, MCF awarded its latest round of Cancer Screening Grants this spring. Cancer screening tests increase the chance of finding cancer early, when treatment is likely to work best. With some cancers, including colorectal and cervical, screening can even prevent the occurrence of cancer all together. A total of $480,000 was awarded to six organizations, and grants will increase access to cancer screenings for Mainers statewide. Grantees include:

Maine Medical Center: Enhanced Melanoma Screening in Rural Primary Care, $80,000

Penobscot Community Health Center: Improving Breast Cancer Screening in Primary Care, $80,000

Northern Light Mayo Hospital: Piscataquis County Mobile Mammography Project, $80,000

Northern Light CA Dean Hospital: Piscataquis County Mobile Mammography Project, $80,000

Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital: An Outreach, Education, and Navigation Program to Increase Breast Cancer Screening Rates, $80,000

St. Joseph Hospital: Community Care Partnership of Maine - Pre-Visit Planning Colorectal Cancer Screening, $80,000
