Strength in Numbers

The Ronald McDonald House® of Portland, Maine, Inc., provides a “home-away-from-home” so families can stay together and mothers and fathers can be close by their hospitalized child. Here, thousands of grateful families have found a warm welcoming smile from a friendly volunteer, a home-cooked meal to enjoy after a long day at the hospital, a restful night’s sleep in a caring environment and emotional support from other families facing similar situations.

Since opening our doors in 1995, more than 5,700 families have reached out to this Ronald McDonald House in time of need when their child was diagnosed with cancer, born prematurely or faced other life threatening illnesses - 98% of our families receive medical treatment at Maine Medical Center; 1% Mercy Hospital and 1% Spring Harbor Hospital with 84% coming from Maine, 11% from NH and 5% from other states and countries.
