Volunteer Program Support
The volunteer program matches every hospice patient with a specially-designated, HSM-trained volunteer. Our volunteers are individually assigned and remain with the patient for the duration of their illness. All of our volunteers have completed a 40-hour intensive training program focusing on end-of-life care, how hospice can help, and what role the volunteer can play in bringing compassion and comfort to the patient and to their family members. Volunteers provide friendship, a comforting presence, a listening ear, as well as assistance with light housework, errands, and respite breaks for caregivers - all helping to relieve patients and their families of some of their challenges and providing critically needed support at an extremely stressful time.
