Telemedicine

MaineHealth proposes to implement and evaluate a new cancer genetics telemedicine program (telegenetics) at three to four rural hospitals in different regions of Maine. Maine Cancer Foundation funds and in-kind resources will be used to:

  • Train clinicians in new evidence based genetic risk assessment algorithms.
  • Train billing staff to maximize reimbursement strategies.
  • Provide telegenetics to rural patients including un- and under-insured individuals and family members and;
  • Evaluate the quality and financial viability of the delivery model.
