MaineHealth proposes to implement and evaluate a new cancer genetics telemedicine program (telegenetics) at three to four rural hospitals in different regions of Maine. Maine Cancer Foundation funds and in-kind resources will be used to:
- Train clinicians in new evidence based genetic risk assessment algorithms.
- Train billing staff to maximize reimbursement strategies.
- Provide telegenetics to rural patients including un- and under-insured individuals and family members and;
- Evaluate the quality and financial viability of the delivery model.
