The Role Of Spry1 And Spry4 In Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Differentiation And Cancer Stem Cell Self-Renewal

Triple-negative breast cancers (TNBC) are an aggressive breast cancer subtype that has few treatments and high rates of metastasis and therapeutic resistance. My preliminary data support the notion that Spry1 and Spry4 have important roles in TNBC growth and metastasis likely through regulating TNBC malignant tumor cell differentiation or TNBC cancer stem cells (CSC) self-renewal capacity, which are key in TNBC therapeutic resistance.

The proposed project seeks to elucidate how Spry1 and Spry4 regulate CSC self-renewal and tumor cell differentiation, and to explore whether there is a synergistic role of targeting Spry1 or Spry4 with conventional chemotherapies for TNBC.
