Nutritional Counseling For Cancer Patients
This grant is used to continue a program of nutrition at the Cancer Care Center of York County (CCCYC) that was started with a grant in 2007 from the Maine Cancer Foundation. Proper nutrition during cancer care has been shown to maintaining a healthy body weight and responding better to treatments and surgeries. There is a great deal of information of cancer nutrition available, however it is disorganized and not completely accurate. The funding will continue providing dieticians to cancer patients, with weekly meetings scheduled to ensure that proper nutrition is started early and continued throughout the treatment process. The Center hopes to establish this program so that it will eventually be able to run independently of outside funding.
