Maine Buddy Program

The Maine Buddy Program is a one-to-one support program that is based on the belief that people who are dealing with cancer understand each other in a unique way. The Maine Buddy Program matches those dealing with cancer’s effects, which include patients, their friends and family members, with trained volunteers who have been in similar cancer situations. Because everyone’s need for support is different, the program connects people in many ways. Like all Cancer Community Center programs, the Maine Buddy Program is offered free of charge to participants. With this grant funding, the Maine Buddy Program will support their Manager of Volunteer Services and train 25 additional volunteers, adding to the 344 existing members.
