Expansion of the Role of Community Health Workers to Increase Colon Cancer Screening Rates
MaineGeneral’s Center for Prevention and Healthy Living will expand the use of Community Health Workers (CHWs) to reach adults due for colorectal screening working in partnership with MaineGeneral primary care practices with screening rates below the goal of 80%.
The CHW will provide education on screening options, including the annual FIT test for average risk patients, and address other barriers to screening via home visits and telephone interaction.
