Expanding Cancer Telegenetics to Serve Five Maine Counties

MaineHealth (MH) proposes to expand the Cancer Telegenetics Program that was successfully piloted in 2012-13 with grant support from the Maine Cancer Foundation.

The proposed project has three inter-related aims:

I) To expand the use of telehealth to deliver cancer genetic services in medically underserved communities, thereby
increasing access for those with suspected hereditary predisposition

2) To make patient follow-up education and support available using web-based strategies

3) To continue to educate healthcare professionals to assess patient risk and make appropriate referrals to the Cancer Telegenetics Program.
